Hillsboro Cub Scouts Fall Family Campout

0

Hillsboro Cub Scout Pack 37 recently held its Family Campout at the AmVets Park on North Shore Drive at Rocky Fork Lake. There were 120 scouts and family members in attendance.

Some of the activities included learning to navigate with a compass, sporting events, and age and rank specific activities such as knot-tying and shelter-building.

After dinner and a pack meeting there was a campfire program that included the scouts performing skits for their families. The next morning there was breakfast and a faith service.

The Hillsboro Cub Scouts wish to thank the AmVets for allowing them use their facilities for this fun and memorable event.

The scouts’ annual popcorn sale has begun. You will see scouts selling popcorn in neighborhoods and at stores in the area to help raise funds for activity and supply costs. Supporting a Cub Scout or Boy Scout through the popcorn sale is much more than just buying a snack; it helps these young people learn the value of working to help pay for their share of year-round activities. Scouts will be at the following Hillsboro locations selling popcorn: Kroger, Sept. 25, 5-7 p.m.; TSC, Sept. 26, 9 a.m. to noon; Community Market (formerly Great Scot), Oct. 1, 5-7 p.m.; and Walmart, Oct. 2, 5-7 p.m.

The scouting program helps boys to develop interests, learn practical skills and emphasizes character development and community service. If you would like additional information you may contact the Hillsboro Cub Scouts at [email protected].
