Hillsboro Garden Club attends fall meeting

Several members of the Hillsboro Garden Club attended the OAGC fall regional meeting on Oct. 8 at the Mahan Building at the Fayette County Fairgrounds. The event was hosted by the Garden Clubs of Fayette County.

The morning program was given by the Mark Bentley family. The family has started growing gourds and pumpkins. They have a lot of variety. The business has grown, every year new things will be added. A great place for a field trip.

A short business meeting, and then a great lunch, and plenty of time to visit the sales tables.

The afternoon program was Carrie Rodgers, on gourds. Carrie, a nationally known artist, showed her designs and the many uses for gourds around the home. Many of her projects were outstanding.

Hillsboro members attending were: Ruth Anna Duff, Larry Moore, Nancy Sonner and guest Judy Moore.

The Hillsboro Garden Club recently presented the OAGC community landscaping award to the Hillsboro Uptown Business Association (HUBA). The ladies who made Hillsboro streets beautiful were: Alice Wilson, Maggi Horst, Karen Cundiff and Janet Shawhan.
