Oaks students win medals at childhood education event

Early Childhood Education students from the Laurel Oaks Career Campus fared well in recent district competitive events. The students participated in Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) competition along with other high school students from southwest Ohio.

The competition gives students a chance to showcase their education skills and knowledge to professionals in the field.

Medal winners from Laurel Oaks include:

• Early Childhood Team, Senior Team, Silver Medal: Hannah Rose (Blanchester), Rachel Reece (Leesburg Fairfield), Alex Clark (Blanchester).

• Early Childhood Team, Junior Team, Silver Medal: Hailey Appleman (Wilmington), Haleigh Shaffer (Hillsboro), Courteney Ruffner (Wilmington), Sydnie Laymon (Wilmington).

• Language and Literacy Development, Gold Medal: Courteney Ruffner.

Family, Career and Community Leaders of America is a national career and technical student organization that provides personal growth, leadership development, and career preparation opportunities for students in family and consumer sciences education.
