The Hillsboro Police Department has reported the following information:

Aug. 19

ACCIDENTS

The police department investigated a call of an accident on Uhrig Street at South West Street. Tyler Hunley, 31, of Hillsboro, was attempting to make a left turn onto Uhrig Street. from South West Street and failed to see a vehicle which was stopped at the stop sign on Uhrig Street. Hunley struck the vehicle operated by Tayler Whiting, 25, of Hillsboro, causing minor damage to both vehicles. Hunley was cited for failure to drive in marked lanes.

The police department responded to a call of a vehicle crash in the 300 block of East Main Street. Jasmin Terry, 21, of Hillsboro, was traveling eastbound on Main Street and failed to see stopped traffic in time and struck a vehicle operated by Debra Clemens, 54, of Hillsboro. Minor damage was received to both vehicles, and no injuries were reported. Terry was cited for assured clear distance ahead.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Joshua Barger, 23, of Hillsboro, was arrested for possession of marijuana.

Trevor Gibson, 21, of Hillsboro, was cited for driving under suspension.

Jennifer Phillips, 27, of Hillsboro, was arrested on a failure to appear bench warrant issued out of Wilmington Municipal Court.

Aug. 20

ACCIDENTS

The police department received a call of a crash at the intersection of Oak Street and Danville Pike. Emily Shope, 17, of Hillsboro, failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection and was struck by Shirley Truman, 61, of Hillsboro, who was proceeding through the intersection on Oak Street. Both vehicles received disabling damage and there no injuries were reported. Shope was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Laurie McCallister, 52, of Hillsboro, was cited for speed.

Kimberly Shepherd, 40, of Jackson, was arrested for theft by deception.

Rodney Cosby Jr., 26, of Wilmington, was arrested on a bench warrant issued by Hillsboro Municipal Court for failure to pay fines.

Aug. 21

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Shaylyn Hope McCoy, 19, of Hillsboro, was cited for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.

James Garrett Ill, 26, of Hillsboro, was arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor and persistent disorderly conduct.
