A pound of opportunity

0

With a new hot water heater, some other needed and appreciated improvements approved by the Highland County Board of Commissioners, the success of Barktoberfest, the new 501 (c) 3 non-profit status, and Kroger Community Reward enrollment and Amazon Smile enrollment for Friends of the Highland County Dog Pound, things are looking up at the Highland County Dog Pound.

Unfortunately, there are currently 14 dogs being housed in the facility and several dogs — Winston, Gus, Toeless Joe, Ben and Jerry and Apollo — have been there for well over a month. The pound is almost at capacity and a long, dark winter is coming.

Medical treatment, transport to rescues, and adequate facilities are essential for pound dogs, but what they need most of all is the loving touch of a human hand. Anyone willing to open their heart and home to a pound dog, even if just to foster for a while, is invited to make an appointment to find their new best friend. Call the Highland County Dog Pound at 937-393-8191 or visit the Friends of the Highland County Dog Pound page on Facebook for more information.
