Washington C.H. – A South Central Ohio League wrestling trimatch for the McClain Tigers took place at Washington Senior High School. This was the only league trimatch that will be wrestled outside of McClain High School for the Tigers this year. It turned out to be a good day of wrestling for the Tigers since everyone on the team either split or went undefeated on the night.

In round one, the two visiting teams squared off. Chillicothe was the Tigers’ opponent. After being down by an 18-0 score, McClain scored the next 42 points and finished with a strong 42-21 win.

Chillicothe and Washington wrestled in round two with the Blue Lions also sending the Cavaliers home with a loss.

Round three was the McClain and Washington matchup. The winning team would sweep the night and the loser would split even on the night. This was a very good match with both teams winning four matches. Giving up five weight classes by forfeits, the Tigers needed to do more than split the matches wrestled, they needed to win the vast majority of them. The Blue Lions proved to be too strong to dominate in such a manner. The Blue Lions won the match 51-26.

Three Tigers went 2-0 on the night: Quinton Smith (113), Conner Morarity (132) and Kyler Trefz (170). The rest of the team split even on the night at 1-1. They are Matthew Milnes (120), Dawson Immel (126), Keegan Rawlins (145), Phil Waters (160), Ethan Taylor (182) and Kai Borrelli (220).

Washington moved to 3-1, McClain to 2-2, and Chillicothe to 0-3 in SCOL action. The Tigers are now 8-6 overall.

Up next for the Greenfield squad is the McClain Tiger Invitational. This is a 14-team tournament that will start at 9:30am on Friday, Dec. 30 at McClain High School.
