The Hillsboro High School boys and girls varsity bowling teams finished their regular season in the SCOL bowling tournament at LeElla lanes Feb. 9 in Washington Court House.

The Hillsboro boys team, sitting at a 10-2 record, had to finish above rival Clinton-Massie to take back-to-back championships. Hillsboro had a rough start, but as the night went on, nothing could stand between the tribe and the title. The Indians finished the three-regular and two-baker game set with a 3461. Massie finished with a 3299.

Hillsboro was led by senior Sajoun Jones with a 694 three-game series, followed by freshman Hayden Miller with 630 and senior Tyler King with 629.

The boys now prepare for sectionals on Friday, Feb. 17 in Chillicothe.

The girls side was just as dramatic in reverse. The Lady Indians came out firing with 1019 in the first game, beating every team in the house, including the boys side. As the night went on, scores went down, but the ladies were so far ahead of every team, it was too late. The Hillsboro ladies finished with a score of 2948 for the set.

Junior Aleigha Tarbutton led the Indians with 595, followed by senior Alexis Bailey with a 563 series.

The closest team to the Hillsboro ladies was Washington Court House with a 2777.

“It was a great night for the program to say the least,” said Hillsboro bowling coach Jeff Miller. “We have worked hard all year to get to where we are now. We have some big things coming up, starting with the boys sectionals followed by the girls on the 24th in Columbus. It’s nice to take a quick bow, but it has to be short-lived, as we have work to do getting ready for a chance at the big show. We are very proud of our teams. We have to keep our foot on the gas and not let up now. We have everyone talking now, and they will come at us with everything they have, so we have to be ready to do the same.”
