Fairfield, McClain break school records

The Fairfield Lions track team nailed down six school records at the Tippecanoe Invitational in Tipp City on Saturday.

Both the boys and girls teams came in 11th out of 16 teams at the meet.

Blake Adams was third in girls shot put with 35-11.25.

The 4×800 team of Chloe Barber, Ciara Colwell, Dakota Haynes, and Grace Shope placed fifth with a time of 11:28.65, breaking the school’s 4×800 record.

Colwell was eighth in girls 1600-meter run with a school record 6:10.48. Colwell also set a school record in the girls 3200-meter with a time of 13:02.45, good enough for sixth place.

Ailean Duffie finished 14th in the girls 300-meter hurdles, setting a new school record with a time of 55.54.

Devon Haynes was ninth in the boys 200-meter dash, finishing at 24.77 to set a new school record.

McClain breaks three relay records

The McClain track team took second place at the Circleville Kiwanis Relay Invitational Saturday, breaking three McClain High School relay records.

The boys finished second out of seven teams with one record-breaking relay win.

The medley relay team of David Jett, Jensen Knaff, Johnny Free and Reece Schluep finished first at 3:54.

The girls team placed fourth out of eight teams with several first-place finishes.

The 4×100 relay team and the sprint medley relay team, both made up of Chayden Pitzer, Ashley Hardesty, Hunter Scott and Maddie Stegbauer, won in their respective events with times of 51.2 and 2:01.2, respectively.

Chayden Pitzer, Trish Poole, Allara Spurlock and Taylor Butterbaugh, McClain’s shuttle hurdle crew, brought in a second-place finish with a final time of 1:16.2.

Owen O’Connor and Tristen Pitzer rounded out the meet for McClain with first-place honors in triple jump.
