The Hillsboro Indians and the McClain Tigers were neck-and-neck the whole meet Tuesday in a tri-meet with the Whiteoak Wildcats at Hillsboro High School.
The final results indicate a highly competitive meet between these cross county rivals.
Heading into the final two events of the night, the Tigers were ahead by an overall score of 76-74. The Indians, however, refused to let the slim deficit deter them. The Indians, by virtue of second and third place finishes in the 3200-meter run, netting five points, were able to take a slim lead into the final event with a score of 79-77.
Hillsboro was able to clinch the victory with a dominant performance in the 4×400-meter relay with the Indians finishing in a time of 3.48.51 almost a full eight seconds ahead of the Tigers, who finished in a time of 3.56.44. Hillsboro was able to squeak out the overall victory with a final score of Hillsboro 84, McClain 82, and Whiteoak 11.
