Lynchburg-Clay blasts Manchester in dominant win

The Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs baseball team beat the visiting Manchester Greyhounds on Monday by a score of 12-2 in five innings of play. The Mustangs have an overall record of 3-5 and a record of 3-1 in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference.

The Mustangs got things started early with an offensive explosion in the first inning, scoring eight runs. All nine starters for the Mustangs reached base in the first and all but one were able to reach home plate.

Lynchburg cooled off in the second, third, and fourth innings with only two players reaching base.

In the fifth inning, the Mustangs went on another tear, scoring four runs to put the Greyhounds away for good.

Sophomore Drew Pitzer got the win on the mound for the Mustangs by throwing four solid innings and only giving up two runs. Pitzer also had a stellar performance at home plate for the Mustangs with two hits, two runs scored, and two RBI.

Lynchburg-Clay will be in SHAC action again on Wednesday at home against cross-county and league rival Whiteoak.
