Son of HHS grad has big day for Louisville

Logan Taylor, a sophomore at the University of of Louisville and the son of 1982 Hillsboro High School graduate Doug Taylor and his wife Melissa, saved his first collegiate home run for an opportune time Sunday.

Pinch-hitting in the top of the fifth inning in the NCAA Super Regional being played in Louisville, Taylor hit a two-run homer to give the Cardinals a 5-1 lead against Cal State Fullerton.

Louisville won the game 9-3 to even the Super Regional Series at one game each. Cal State won the first game Saturday 3-2. The teams were to meet at 7 p.m. Monday with the winner advancing to the NCAA College World Series.

Taylor stayed in the game Sunday playing center field and had two more singles and two stolen bases.

A graduate of Lexington Catholic High School, Taylor has played in 59 of the Louisville’s 64 games, starting 13 games. He’s currently batting .349 with three doubles, one home run and 13 RBIs. He been successful on eight of nine stolen base attempts.

The Cardinals are currently 47-17.
