Fairfield Lady Lions shut out the Manchester Lady Hounds 16-0

The Fairfield Lady Lions (15-1, 12-0 SHAC) took another step forward toward their goal of an undefeated Southern Hills Athletic Conference Championship blanking the Manchester Lady Greyhounds (9-12, 5-7 SHAC) 16-0 in a game played in a light rain at Manchester High School’s new outdoor athletic complex.

Kaiti White and the Lady Lions’ defense were dominating again this afternoon. White threw a 1 hit shutout, her 10th shutout of the season as the Lady Lion defense would again play errorless softball. The Lady Lion offense was also dominating pounding out 20 hits in the 5 inning game. Emily Williams and Shania Setty let the offense with 4 hits each. Williams was 4 for 4 with a double, 4 runs, and 4 rbi’s. Setty was also 4 for 4 with 3 rbi’s. Nine different Lady Lion batters had hits in the game.

The Fairfield Lady Lions got off the bus swinging scoring 4 runs in the top of the first inning. Megan Gragg batting in the leadoff spot in today’s game double to lead off the game. Back to back base on balls to Carli Reiber and White would load the bases with one out. Williams would clear the bases with a double to the fence in left field and would score on a base hit by Setty.

The Lady Lions would score three more runs in the top of the second inning on as bases loaded hit by the pitch by Lauren Arnold, and singles by Lyndee Spargur and Setty.

Fairfield would erupt for seven runs in the top of the third inning. In the inning, Gragg singled, Reiber was hit by the pitch, White was safe on a fielder’s choice, Kourtnie Smith was hit by the pitch, Williams singled to drive in a run, Arnold doubled to drive in two runs, Spargur had an rbi single, and Setty had an rbi single.

The Lady Lions scored two runs in the top of the fourth inning and a single run in the top of the fifth inning. Smith doubled off the fence in left field, Williams, Arnold, Gracie Lawson, Setty, and Molly Thackston, Reiber, Williams, and Arnold all singled.

White would give up only an infield single in the bottom of the third inning off the bat of Aallyah Smith. White struck out 10 Lady Greyhounds on the afternoon and had no walks.

Leading hitters for the Lady Lions: Gragg (3 for 4, double, 1 run), Reiber (1 for 2, 3 runs), White (0 for 3, 3 runs), Smith (1 for 3, double, 3 runs), Williams (4 for 4, double, 4 runs, 4 rbi), Arnold (3 for 3, double, 1 run, 4 rbi), Spargur (2 for 2, 1 run, 1 rbi), Setty (4 for 4, 3 rbi), Thackston (1 for 3), Lawson (1 for 1, pinch hit).

White (15-1) was the winning pitcher for Fairfield. Kaiti’s Pitching line: 5 innings, 1 hit, no runs, no earned runs, no walks, and 10 strikeouts. McKenzie Bell suffered the loss for Manchester. Bell’ pitching line: 3 innings, 11 hits, 13 runs, 10 earned runs, 4 walks, and 1 strikeout. Macy Huron’s pitching line: 2 innings, 9 hits, 3 runs, 3 earned runs, no walks, no strikeouts.
