The boys and girls track and field teams from Fairfield, Lynchburg-Clay, and Whiteoak traveled to Fairfield Union High School to support members of their teams that participated in the region 11 regional track meet. Together the three schools are represented by 13 separate athletes and four relay teams.
The boys long jump final was contested on day one of the event with the girls long jump being contested on the second day of the event. Zac Carter of Lynchburg-Clay qualified for the regional tournament with a distance of 19-04.75.
The girls shot put final was also contested on the first day of the event with the boys shot put final happening on the opposite day. Blake Adams of Fairfield qualified for the regional meet with a distance of 37-06.00.
Semi-final heats were held in the girls 100-meter hurdles, boys 110-meter hurdles, girls 100-meter dash, boys 100-meter dash, girls 4×200-meter relay, boys 4×200-meter relay, girls 4×100-meter relay, boys 4×100-meter relay, girls 400-meter dash, boys 400-meter dash, girls 300-meter hurdles boys 300-meter hurdles, girls 200-meter dash, boys 200-meter dash, girls 4×400-meter relay, boys 4×400-meter relay.
Kensley Bailey of Whiteoak competed in the girls 100-meter dash finishing in a time of 13.26 just short of qualifying for the finals on Friday. the Wildcat’s Taylor Tackett competed in the girls 400-meter dash finishing in a time of 1:00.97 but missing out on the finals as well. Tackett, 26.69, and Bailey, 27.00, both competed in the girls 200-meter dash and fell short of the finals.
Zac Carter of Lynchburg-Clay competed in the boys 200-meter dash finishing with a time of 23.60, and in the boys 100-meter dash finishing in a time of 11.67 but failed to qualify in either for Friday’s final.
