The McClain High School Tigers coed varsity cross country team will start their season on Wednesday August 23 with their only home meet held at Mitchell Park in Greenfield. The opener for the Tigers is their lone home meet of the season. McClain will wrap up the regular season at the Unioto Invitational on October 7.

The team is made up of five seniors, one junior, four sophomores, and four freshmen. The team is coached by Steve Roble for the sixth year.

“The goal for this team is simple: Get better every day. You can’t control anything but yourself. The expectations are for the kids to get better every week.”, said Roble. “If we can get kids started earlier in their school career we will start to see kids winning the league. This is a sport of perseverance and persistence.”

Roble commented on going from the South Central Ohio League to the Frontier Athletic Conference, “In cross country you get used to your competitors. You rely on your league competitors to help you out so it will be a little different. We are not scheduled to travel to Jackson this year but, we have ran there before and we know they have great runners as well as one of the toughest courses in the league.”
