Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs golf preview

The Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs golf team is represented by three seniors, one junior, three sophomores, and one freshmen. The team is coached, for the eighteenth year, by Shawn Mclaughlin.

“Last year was a down year for us. We would like to get better this year. I’d like to see us shoot under 200 in every match this year.”, Mclaughlin said.

Mclaughlin enjoys coaching the team for the Mustangs and he cherishes the relationship that he has built with athletes over the years. “The most rewarding thing is that I still have 10 – 15 golfers that I am still friends with and still play with. They call me up and I will play one or two rounds with them in the summer.”

“Erick Mclaughlin is a three year all league selection who broke through the sectional tournament barrier last season and made it to districts. I am optimistic that he will have another great year for us this season.”, Mclaughlin said.
