The McClain Tigers boys golf team hosted the Washington Blue Lions on Tuesday at Buckeye Hills Country Club in Frontier Athletic Conference (FAC) action. The Tigers emerged victorious with a final team score of 197 – 203.
The Tigers continued to get outstanding results from their junior leader Trevor Newkirk who carded a 36 and also earned match medalist honors for McClain.
The Tigers also got great results from Kobe Penwell who shot a 43, Trenton Newkirk who had a 44, and Zane Mustard finished off the scoring with a 74.
McClain also saw Blake Adams shoot a 83 and Carson Spangler finished with an 84.
The Blue Lions got solid play from leading scorer Gabe Arazo who had a 48 on the day, Ty Rose chipped in a 51, while Brock Morris and Tyler Rood each shot a 52 for Washington.
Washington also had Brice Cartwright score a 54 and Sam Shaffer finished with a 74.
The Tigers will be in action on Wednesday and Thursday when they travel to Hillsboro to take on FAC and cross-county rivals the Hillsboro Indians. On Saturday the Tigers will also take part in the inaugural FAC golf tournament scheduled to be held in Chillicothe at the Chillicothe Country Club.
