The McClain Lady Tigers hosted the Washington Lady Blue Lions on Thursday in a Frontier Athletic Conference (FAC) volleyball tilt. McClain prevailed in the match in straight sets beating Washington 3 – 0.

The Lady Tigers were prepared for a tough match-up and the visitors did not disappoint. The first game was a narrow 25 – 23 result in favor of McClain.

The momentum that the Lady Tigers gained by winning the first game was enough to propel them to victories in the final two games. The Lady Blue Lions did not go away easy but in the end they did not have enough to overcome a motivated McClain team.

The second and third games were decided by identical 25 – 18 scores and gave the Lady Tigers a much needed FAC win.

McClain was led in serving by Macie Adams and Lix Kegley who both notched two service aces in the match.

Senior Chayden Pitzer continued to aggressively attack the net when given the opportunity and finished with 17 kills.

Adams and Pitzer were also impressive passing for the Lady Tigers and finished with 26 and 25 successful passes each.

MaKenzie Montavon was excellent setting for McClain and converted 57 – 58 attempts and racked up 32 assists.

The Lady Tigers also traveled to Chillicothe on Tuesday to take on FAC rivals the Chillicothe Lady Cavaliers. McClain lost in straight sets falling to Chillicothe 3 – 0.

Scores for the three games were; 18 – 25, 10 – 25, and 13 – 25.

Taylor Butterbaugh was 4 – 4 serving with two aces in the match.

Pitzer was 16 – 19 attacking with eight kills as well as 24 – 27 passing.

Montavon, the only setter for the Lady Tigers, was 76 – 76 setting in the match and had 14 assists.

The Lady Tigers will be back in action on Tuesday, September 19, when they host the Hillsboro Lady Indians in a cross-county and FAC rivalry.
