Three Highland County CC teams participate in districts; Fairfield advances to regionals

Fairfield High School’s boys and girls cross country teams advanced to the D III regional with first and third place finishes respectively at the D III district cross country meet at the University of Rio Grande on Saturday.

The Lions had all seven of male runners finish inside the top 20 with Noah Richmond taking second place individually.

The Lady Lions saw four runners in the top 25 at the meet with Ciara Colwell placing second overall.

Whiteoak High School will be represented, in the boys competition, by Hunter Morgan and Atlee Carr who placed 21 and 22 respectively to earn individual spots in the regional meet. The Lady Wildcats were led by freshman Kayla Jones who finished at number 70.

Whiteoak finished seventh in the boys team standing while the girls were twenty-third.

Lynchburg-Clay boys and girls also took part in the district meet as the boys were led by freshman Dawson Osborn who finished number 79. The girls were led by freshman Lilie Dearwester who finished at position 67.

Lynchburg placed nineteenth in the boys team standings and the ladies were fifteenth.

In D II cross country action, also at the University of Rio Grande, Hillsboro and McClain competed but were unable to advance a runner to the regional meet.

In the boys race the Indians were led by senior Justin Scott who finished at number 72. The Lady Indians were led by junior Mollie McCreary who finished just outside of the regional qualifiers at number 36.

The Tigers were led by Reece Schluep who finished at number 91. The Lady Tigers were not represented at the district level.

The representatives from Fairfield and Whiteoak will travel to Pickerington on Saturday, Oct. 28, to take part in the D III Southeast regional meet in an attempt tp qualify for the state meet scheduled to be held Nov. 4.
