Lady Tigers Basketball to hold Foundation Game to honor Wend

The McClain Lady Tigers Basketball teams will hold a Foundation Game on Saturday, November 18 against the Lady Indians of Peebles High School.

The JV team will play a half starting at noon, followed by a full varsity game. All proceeds for this event will be donated to John Wend’s memorial fund. Come check out the girls basketball teams and support the memory of a local legend.

Upward Basketball and Cheerleading League signups Nov. 21, 28 and 30 6-8 p.m.

The Upward Basketball and Cheerleading League will be holding signups for students in grades K-6 on November 21, 28 and 30 from 6-8 p.m. Parents only need to choose one of the three dates to sign up their athletes.

The signups will take place at the Hillsboro Elementary School in Café A and B. The cost for students in grades K-2 will be $55; students in grades 3-6 will be required to pay $70 (cost includes jersey, t-shirt, end of the season gift, admission to all games and referees fees). Shorts and turtlenecks can be bought for $15.

Practices will begin on January 15 and will be held one night a week for one hour (night depends on coach’s availability). Games will be contested from February 3-March 24 at Hillsboro Elementary School. Each child will play half of the game every week. An awards celebration will be held March 27.
