Hillsboro boys second overall at district meet; McClain girls third

The Division II boys and girls track and field District Tournament was held at Washington High School May 17 and May 19. Highland County had representatives from Hillsboro and McClain High Schools on the boy’s side and from Hillsboro, McClain and Lynchburg-Clay on the girl’s side.

The Indians finished second overall in the boy’s tournament with a team score of 85 points and the McClain Lady Tigers took third overall in the girl’s tournament with a team score of 68 points.

Hillsboro will be represented at the Regional Tournament at Muskingum University Thursday, May 24, and Saturday, May 26, by the girl’s 4×800-meter relay team of Sami Blair, Sydney Lanning, Molly McCreary and Jaeleigh Hart.

On the boy’s side the Indians will be represented by Ty Alexander in the 400-meter dash; the 4×400-meter relay team of Tyler Workman, Britton Haines, Mark Gallimore and Alexander; Draven Stodgel in the discus throw and shotput; Kole Maynard in the discus throw; Quinn Conlon in the high jump; and Austin Goolsby in the long jump and pole vault.

McClain will be represented on the girl’s side of the Regional Tournament by Chayden Pitzer in the 100-meter hurdles, the 100-meter dash, the 300-meter hurdles and the 200-meter dash. Kerrigan Pollard also advanced to the Regional Tournament in the 300-meter hurdles. The Lady Tigers will also be represented by the 4×100-meter relay team of Jaelyn Pitzer, Pollard, Hunter Scott and Emma Stegbauer.
