12 Highland County athletes participate in senior all star soccer games at Zane Trace Sunday

Four local boys and eight local girls from Hillsboro, McClain, Lynchburg-Clay and Fairfield were selected as Southeast District senior all stars by members of the Southeast District Coaches Association.

The four boys all stars are Quinn Conlon from Hillsboro, Tanner Collins of Fairfield, Evan Hutchinson of McClain and Chris Young of Lynchburg-Clay.

All four boys competed as part of the home team on Sunday, November 4, at Zane Trace High School and led their team to an 8-3 win.

The eight girls all stars are Trinity Huff and Lyndee Spargur of Fairfield; Callan Meyers of Hillsboro; Haley Peterman and Kelli Uhrig of McClain; and Kali Cochran, Peyton Scott and Riley Creditt of Lynchburg-Clay.

Scott was also named the Division III Player of the Year in the Southeast District.

Along with Conlon, who was selected as a Division II All-District first team member, the Indians were represented by Andrew Gunderman and Landon Weber on the second team while Logan Crafton and Spencer Rudy received honorable mention .

Hutchinson was selected as an All-District first team performer for the Tigers while Caleb Goddard earned second team honors and Braeden Bergstrom and Griffin Foltz were honorable mention.

Lions’ goaltender James Bentley was selected as a first team performer in Division III; Jordan Cameron earned second team all district honors and seniors Collins and Zach Ison earned honorable mention.

Mustang junior Blake Marcelino joined Young on the first team list and seniors Damin Pierson and Drew Pitzer received second team honors while Hunter Balon and Gavin Stroop earned honorable mention.

Molly McCreary was a second team all district performer for the Lady Indians while Sami Blair and Emily Hawk earned honorable mention for their seasons.

The Lady Tigers were also represented on the second team by sophomore Kerigan Pollard while junior Beckley Smith earned honorable mention from coaches in the Southeast District.

Lynchburg-Clay’s Kaylee Lunsford joined Cochran and Scott as a first team selection in Division III and Creditt is joined on the second team by Isabelle Brinkman while Sierra Benney and Mikaela Tipton earned honorable mention.

Ella Newkirk and Cadence Saunders each earned honorable mention for the Lady Lions of Fairfield.

The Southeast District also named the winners team sportsmanship award given to teams that do not earn a single red card during the season; Fairfield, McClain and Hillsboro each earned the honor for their boys and girls teams and Lynchburg-Clay’s Lady Mustangs also earned the designation.
