Lynchburg-Clay FFA hosting Wilkin Memorial Tournaments

The Lynchburg-Clay FFA and FFA Alumni will host their annual Greg Wilkin Memorial Tournaments on Saturday, Dec. 18 and Sunday, Dec. 19 at the Lynchburg-Clay High School.

Open Basketball Tournament

This year, the basketball tournament will be an open tournament that anyone who wishes can participate in. Participants must be 18 years or older and be out of high school. This tournament will be double-elimination with two 20-minute halves, a five-minute halftime, and a 10-minute warm-up period.

Registration for the Wilkin Tournament will be $25/person ($100 team). Teams must have five players to be eligible for the tournament. The team captain needs to contact Madison Schumacher at [email protected] or at 937-364-2250 ext. 11209 with their team name by Dec. 15. The winning teams will receive free T-shirts.

Cornhole Tournament

In addition to the basketball tournaments being held on Dec. 18, the FFA Alumni will host the second annual Wilkin Cornhole Tournament starting at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 19. The cornhole tournament will consist of three different brackets: youth, adult and an FFA member with non-FFA member.

Registration for the cornhole tournament will be $20 per person ($40/team) for the tournament. All brackets will be double-elimination. The team captain needs to contact Schumacher at [email protected] or at 937-364-2250 ext. 11209 with their team name by Dec. 15.The winners of the tournament winners will receive T-shirts and cornhole boards or bags.

All proceeds from the Greg Wilkin Memorial Tournaments will benefit the Greg Wilkin Memorial Scholarship that is awarded to graduating FFA members of Lynchburg-Clay FFA. The scholarship fund was recreated in 1984 in honor of former FFA member Greg Wilkin, who was tragically killed in a farming accident. This tournament event is the only form of fundraising that creates funding for the scholarship.

Monetary donations can be sent to the Lynchburg-Clay FFA, 6762 S.R. 134 South, Lynchburg, Ohio 45142 to benefit the scholarship fund.

All participants are asked to email their information by Dec. 15 at 2:30 p.m. to [email protected], or by calling Schumacher at 937-364-2250 ext. 11209. Official rules and brackets will be be released by Dec. 17 at 6 p.m on the Lynchburg-Clay Schools website: www.lclsd.org.
