Leesburg soccer youth capture state title

0

On a cold and rainy Sunday, the Leesburg Soccer Club’s U12 Boys Strikers team lit up the Friendly Village with pride. After an undefeated season, the boys found themselves playing in the “elite eight” and then the “final four” of the SAY Soccer State Championship in Milford on Nov. 29 against Cincy Central.

The boys were caked with mud when the time clock stopped with the score at 0-0 and the game went into overtime.

Blake Walters and Easton Zink each scored a goal during overtime. You could hear the Highland County crowd go wild as the Leesburg boys won the 40th annual Ohio State SAY Tournament for the Boys Strikers Division for the first time ever in Leesburg Soccer Club history.

The Boys Strikers were coached by Jacob Zink and Jon Burgess and sponsored by Firefly Foto and Hillsboro Family Vision.

The Leesburg Soccer Club board members would like to thank their sponsors as well as commend the coaches and players for their hard work and perseverance.
