The McClain varsity volleyball team lost in straight sets Tuesday night at home to Chillicothe by scores of 17-25, 6-25, and 20-25.

In the opening game of the night McClain trailed early 11-5 before battling back and pulling to within three points at 15-12 before losing 25-17.

The second game was all Lady Cavaliers as they won convincingly 25-6 to take a 2-0 lead in the match.

Game three would prove to be the closest and best contest of the night when McClain dropped the hard-fought 25-20 finale.

Despite the loss McClain head coach Emma Gall still had praise for several of her players.

“I think Chayden Pitzer played very well at the net for us tonight where she had several really good blocks,” Gall said “Malea Montavon also turned in a strong performance up front with some awesome kills.”

“Jhalea Coleman also had some nice digs from the back row and I thought Riley Williams served very well in the match.”

“Kelcey Smith had a solid game too with five points and three blocks and kills at the net.”

“Chillicothe has a really good program but our intensity level wasn’t where it needed to be tonight and our communication needs to get better on the floor. Over-all I think our girls are working hard every night and trying to get where we want them to be.”

McClain embarks now on a three game road trip at Jackson Wednesday, September 2nd, at Miami Trace Thursday, September 3rd, and at East Clinton on Tuesday, September 9th. The Lady Tigers return home on Thursday, September 10th when they host Washington.
