The Lady Lions of Fairfield fought hard and kept each of the three sets close on Thursday night as they hosted West Union. Unfortunately for the Fairfield team, they were swept by their Southern Hills Athletic Conference opponent with scores of 25-23, 26-24, and 25-23.

In the first match, the match was mainly West Union. But the Lady Lions made a comeback late that came up just short and the game ended with a score of 25-23.

In set two, it was a back and forth affair with neither team giving up much ground. The game had to be taken an extra point for West Union to finally come away with the victory with a final of 26-24.

In the third set, the Lady Lions had to win to force a fourth set. They started off great, at one point leading 9-2. But some costly mistakes and a comeback from the Lady Dragons, Fairfield couldn’t hold on and lost the set 25-23.

The Lady Lions will hit the court again on Monday night as they play host to Paint Valley.
