Hamilton Township held their annual pool to bracket tournament with 15 teams competing in this year’s event. Taking home the team title was Hilliard Davidson. The runner-up trophy went to an South Central Ohio League team, the Clinton-Massie Falcons, and the third place trophy was taken home by the Grove City Greyhounds. McClain finished in 12th place.

Jake Badgley (160) swept though the tournament by finishing all of his opponents in the first period, including a thirty second pin against Connor Morrison of Hilliard Davidson in the finals. Jake took home the weight class championship plaque by going 5-0.

Keegan Rawlins (126) finished in 6th place with a 3-2 record on the day. Keegan’s only loss in his pool came against his opponent from Grove City who decided to take the disqualification win instead of continuing to wrestle the match after it was determined Keegan had committed an illegal slam. Keegan was winning the match at that point. Keegan’s opponent made a quick recovery after the match and decided to continue wrestling the rest of the tournament, enroute to his fourth place finish. This disqualification loss prevented Keegan from advancing to the championship bracket. He had to settle for the consolation bracket.

Tanner Tite (120) finished 4th with a 2-3 mark on the day. Ethan Taylor (170) was 1-3. Ethan’s final match against Cincinnati Turpin was the longest match of the year for a Tiger. The match went 6 periods, with Ethan coming up short in a 4-2 decision.

Aaron Kovach (132) went 0-3. Tommy Johnson (145) and Jon Stroud (152) both finished at 0-2. Both Aaron and Tommy wrestled up weight classes to fill spots for the team.

Up next for the Tigers is the State Duals single elimination tournament. MHS is the sixth seed and they drew the three seed Wilmington Hurricane in round one at Washington Court House High School on Wednesday starting at 5pm.
