The Fairfield Lady Lions softball team (13-4) traveled to Wilmington High School on Saturday afternoon for two games, one of them billed as the top Division IV game in Ohio as the Lady Lions, ranked seven in the state, took on an undefeated and no. 8 ranked Williamsburg (17-0).

The Lady Wildcats of Williamsburg took an early lead scoring a run in the top of the second inning and went up 3-0 in the fourth inning after scoring twice more.

The Lady Lions battled back in the bottom of the six inning to score twice and bring the score back to within one at 3-2. Unfortunately, Williamsburg struck for seven runs in their half of the seventh to win the game 10-2.

Kaiti White picked up her first lost of the season on the mound going 6 2/3 innings, giving up 12 hits, 10 runs, eight earned while striking out nine batters.

Leading the Lady Lions at the plate was Grace Larrick who went 2-for-3 and scored once and Lauren Arnold who went 1-for-3 on a double and scored.

The the second game, the Fairfield girls took on a Division II opponent in Wilmington. The hitting woes continued for the Lady Lions as they dropped that game as well with a final of 3-1.

One Lady Lion that stood out on the day was Larrick who went 3-for-3 with an RBI in the second game and had five hits in six at-bats on the day. As a team, the Lady Lions were only able to tally eight hits on the day.
