The tentative schedule for the Ohio Valley Hoops Classic coming to Southern State Community College this Dec. 2-4 has been announced.
The tournament will feature some of the top players from a three-state area, several Division I teams, plus eight local teams playing over the three days. Highland County schools Lynchburg-Clay, fresh off an appearance in the state tournament, plus Greenfield McClain and Whiteoak are among the 24 teams slated to play.
“The top-rated senior in the event looks to be Zach Gunn of Hamilton Southeastern. He will likely be a top five senior in Indiana and has several high D-1 offers,” said Bennie Carroll, the event organizer. “The junior class looks to be very good. Dane Goodwin of Upper Arlington may be No. 1 player in Ohio and is committed to Ohio State. Jerome Hunter of Pickerington North is a top five junior with D-1 offers and Ohio State is interested in him. Dylan Swingle, a 6-10 post player from Paint Valley and Ross Ryan of Centerburg will be a great matchup of highly regarded big men on small-school teams.
The tournament is set to open Friday, Dec. 2 with the first game featuring Lynchburg-Clay matched up against New Richmond at 5:30 p.m.
