Lions sweep G-Men in weekend series

The Fairfield Lions baseball team was able to sweep Georgetown 10- and 12-3 over the weekend with a big no-hitter from Hunter Dixon in game one on the day.

In the first game, it only took five innings for the Lions to dispose of their opponents as Dixon dominated Georgetown hitters. He went all five of the innings allowing no runs on no hits while striking out seven batters and walking two.

Dixon had hitting on the offensive side from his team to help his cause as well. The Lions scored once in the first inning, three runs in the third, two in the fourth, and capped it off with a big four run inning to the fifth to complete the run-rule.

Dixon himself went 1-for-2 at the plate and had an RBI on top of his stellar pitching performance. Cody Gragg had two hits and an RBI and Sam Buddelmeyer had one hit and two RBIs. Klay Walker and Mitch Rose each had one hit and one RBI.

In game two, the Lions continued their domination of the G-Men, this time beating their opponents 12-3. The Lions scored in every inning except the third, which is also the inning in which Georgetown collected their only three runs.

Walker led the Lions at the plate in the second game going 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Mitch Rose had one hit in the game and two RBIs, Gragg had one hit and one RBI, and Dixon tallied one hit as well.

The Lions will face off against Southern Hills Athletic Conference opponent Whiteoak on their home field in Leesburg Tuesday, April 26 with the game set to start at 5 p.m.
