SSCC Theatre presents ‘Moonlight & Magnolias’

SSCC Theatre will present “Moonlight & Magnolias,” playing April 14-16 in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on the Southern State Community College Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro. The Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m.; the Sunday matinee begins at 3:30 p.m.

Hillsboro FFA public speaking

A few members of the Hillsboro FFA chapter competed in the public speaking contest held recently at McClain High School. Members that competed were Grace Allen, Emma Yochum, Carter Boyd, Addyston Knauff, Halle Jones, Corbin Winkle and Jenna Rhoades. Allen competed in the Creed Speaking Contest and placed first, which qualified her for state. Yochum competed in the Beginning Prepared Contest and got first place leaving her as a state qualifier. Jones competed in the Extemporaneous Contest, placed first and competed in the district contest. Rhoades competed in the Advanced Prepared Contest and placed first, sending her to the district contest. Winkle placed second in the Extemporaneous Contest and Boyd placed second in the Beginning Prepared Contest. Knauff also competed in the Beginning Prepared Contest. Leap of Faith opens in Hillsboro

Leap of Faith Bridal and Formal Wear, located in downtown Hillsboro, celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon cutting with the Highland County Chamber of Commerce on March 10.

MNB donates to Highland County Senior Center

Merchants National Bank presented the Highland County Senior Citizens Center with a donation of $1,000 for a platinum sponsorship for their annual fundraising event, Tyler Christopher and Live Band Present: The Ultimate Elvis Presley Tribute Show on Saturday, March 25. This is the seventh year the center has had Christopher for its event that benefits the operation of the senior center. As part of the Ohio Department of Transportation District 9 Planning Department, the district’s environmental office is seeking public input for a bridge replacement project on S.R. 247 in Highland County.

All About Beef 4-H Club elects new officer

On March 12, the All About Beef 4-H Club elected new officers for the 2023 year as follows: President, Blake Herdman; vice president, Allison Rockey; secretary, Sydney Shelton; treasurer, Joslyn Rockey; news reporter, Cameron Burkard; and recreation leaders, Braydon Burkard, Ashton Burkard and Madison Hauke. The members discussed many new updates for the year. Demonstrations were given by Allison Rockey and Joslyn Rockey. The next meeting will be held at the end of March. Pictured are the current members of the All About Beef 4-H Club.

AAA7 moving offices to Jackson

The Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7) is moving its administrative office in Rio Grande to 1 Acy Ave., Jackson, in Jackson County. Operations at the Jackson office will begin effective March 27, 2023.
