Hillsboro Indians host Ohio XC Classic Saturday at Liberty Park


The Hillsboro Indians co-ed cross country team hosted the Ohio Cross Country Classic on Saturday at Liberty Park in Hillsboro. The Indians finished seventh out of twelve teams on the boys side and the girls were sixth out of eight teams.

The top seven runners for the Indians on the boys side were; Justin Scott (26), Bailey Lucarello (30), Jonathan Hatfield (32), Scott Eastes (45), Nathan Spencer (47), Owen Ryan (66), and Jeffrey Beery (71).

The top seven finishers for the Lady Indians were; Mollie McCreary (10), Ellie Howland (30), Emily Young (33), Keeley Schurman (34), and Alora Brown (41).

The Fairfield Lions cross country team also represented Highland County at the event and were the most highly decorated team at the event. The boys and girls teams combined to place all thirteen of their runners in the top 50 of each race.

The Lions took first place overall in the boys race and fourth in the girls race.

The top seven runners for the Lions on the boys side were; Matthew Mangus (1), Noah Richmond (3), Austin Setty (6), Ethan Davis (7), Bennett Hodson (8), Andrew Davis (13), and Cohen Frost (14).

The Lady Lions were represented by six runners in the event as follows; Morgan Richmond (4), Chloe Barber (11), Megan Gragg (13), Sarah Young (32), Laynee Duffie (43), and Sarah Wuellner (45).

The McClain Tigers were the third local cross country team at the event and were represented by seven runners in the boys race.

The seven Tigers runners were; Reece Schluep (27), Nathan Ernst (46), Miles McMurry (59), Paul Bliss (62), Seth Cross (68), Zane Bode (72), and Chance Lane (74).

All three Highland County schools will be back in action on Saturday, Septemeber 9. The Indians and Tigers teams will both travel to Zane Trace High School to take part in the Zane Trace Invitational and the Lions will travel to Mason County, Kentucky to take on Mason County High School.
