SSCC board meeting

The Southern State Community College Board of Trustees will meet at noon Wednesday, Oct. 17, in the Community Room on the SSCC Brown County Campus, 351 Brooks-Malott Road, Mt. Orab. The meeting agenda includes an executive session for the purpose of discussing matters pertaining to collective bargaining.

L-Clay Board of Ed meeting

The Lynchburg-Clay Board of Education will meet in regular session at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18 at the Lynchburg-Clay Board of Education building.

Catholic Rural Life

On Thursday, Oct. 18 the Catholic Rural Life of the St. Martin Deanery will hold its regular meeting. On the agenda are a report on the status of the Farm Bill and plans for future programs. The meetings are open to anyone who shares the goals of bringing a Christian perspective to life in rural areas, preserving rural heritage and working to promote dialogue between rural and urban leaders. Marshall Fall Fun-Fest

The Marshall School Committee Fall Fun-Fest will held from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20 at the Marshall School Gymnasium. A variety of carnival games, face painting, grocery bingo, popcorn and cake walks will be available. Game tickets are 25 cents each or five for $1. Fish, sloppy joes, coneys, macaroni and cheese, baked beans, cole slaw and homemade pies will be available for a freewill donation. A costume contest will be held at 6 p.m. Registration will be from 4 to 5:30 p.m. All proceeds will be used for the renovation and upkeep of the gym. Healthy Halloween at senior center

Healthy Halloween: Senior Health & Information Expo at the Highland County Senior Citizens Center is Tuesday, Oct. 23 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free admission. More Than a Trunk of Treat

The Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene will host More Than a Trunk of Treat on Wednesday, Oct. 24 from 6-7:30 p.m. You are invited to join in the night of fun and candy. The Bright Local Board of Education has rescheduled its next regular meeting for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25 at Whiteoak Jr/Sr High School.

Soup’s On free meal

The Soup’s On free meal will be held Saturday, Oct. 27 at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, corner of N. High and North atreets in Hillsboro. Prayer and Praise are at 4:30 p.m. Dinner is served from 5-6 p.m. The menu will be lasagna, tossed salad, garlic bread, assorted drinks and desserts.

Paint Creek board meeting

The Paint Creek Joint EMS/Fire District Board will meet Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. at Station One, 640 N. Washington St., Greenfield.

Service Academy Day

Congressman Brad Wenstrup will host a Service Academy Day at the McClain High School Auditorium on Saturday, Nov. 10. Registration is from 1-1:30 p.m. and the presentation from 1:30-3 p.m. The sessions will include presentations by representatives from the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Members of Wenstrup’s staff will answer questions about the nomination process. All the service academies, except the Coast Guard Academy, require applicants to be nominated by a member of Congress or another authorized nominating source.

Fruitdale UNM necklace making

The Fruitdale United Methodist Church is having a fuseable glass pendant (for necklace) making on Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 6:3 0p.m. Participants pick their glass and arrange it on Tuesday evening, then it is taken to a kiln, baked, and brought back when it is done. There are before and after photos and the end prodcut does not look anything like the before photo. The fee is $5 each and you can make as many as you want. This is a fund raiser for the church’s new addition. Snacks will be provided. The church is located five miles south of Greenfield on SR 41.
