Highland County Women’s Hall of Fame

0

March is Women’s History Month and what better way to celebrate than nominating someone for the Highland County Women’s Hall of Fame.

In 1981, members of the community gathered to honor four women into the newly former Highland County Women’s Hall of Fame. In the following years two to four women have been honored each year.

The community submits the nomination forms that serve as the pool of nominees from which the women are selected each year to be honored. These forms are available at all the county libraries and at The Times-Gazette. Deadline for submission is June 30.

The women selected must either have been born in Highland County or have been a resident of the county for a minimum of five years. Nominees’ achievements have been in the arts, humanities, business, industry, agriculture, health, government, politics, sports, education, homemaking, the media, volunteer activities, and distinguished personal achievements.

The written typed and double spaced summary is limited to five pages, one sided.

If you know of someone who is deserving to be considered for this honor and would like help with writing the summary, a member of the Hall of Fame Committee will be happy to assist you. Contact Virginia Purdy at 937-780-6012 and she will put you in touch with someone.
