Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of Nov. 19-25, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 285 911 calls, answered 141 requests for service, dispatched 121 fire and EMS runs, took 28 offense reports and investigated five traffic crashes.

At 4:25 a.m. on Nov. 20 the sheriff’s office received a report of an unoccupied vehicle sitting at the intersection of Marconette and Stringtown Roads still running. Deputies responded to the area and located the vehicle with the driver passed out behind the wheel. A loaded firearm was recovered from the vehicle. Joshua D. Lynch, 33, was arrested for OVI, improper handling of a firearm, drug abuse, obstructing official business and possessing drug abuse instruments.

A citizen on Spilker Road called the sheriff’s office at 1:59 a.m. on Nov. 21 to report a strange smell in the area. A deputy was dispatched to investigate, but the source of the smell could not be located. No other similar complaints were received.

On Nov. 22 at 1:59 p.m. the sheriff’s office received an alarm activation from a residence on Wolfe Road. A deputy was dispatched to investigate. The residence was checked and all was found to be secure.
