One driver hospitalized after Saturday crash

A two-car crash Saturday afternoon sent a Hillsboro woman to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

According to Sgt. Bob Burd of the Wilmington Ohio State Highway Patrol Post, Weiland Chambers, 17, Hillsboro, was eastbound on East New Market Road when, after coming to a complete stop at its intersection with U.S. Route 62, he pulled out in front of a southbound vehicle driven by Kimberly Hendricks, 33, Hillsboro.

The state patrol said both vehicles collided, with the Hendricks vehicle continuing off the side of the roadway and impacting a concrete post.

Chambers wasn’t hurt in the crash, Burd said, but Hendricks suffered minor injuries and was transported to Highland District Hospital by emergency personnel from Paint Creek Joint/EMS Fire District, where she was later flown by helicopter to U.C. Medical Center in Cincinnati.

Chambers was cited for failure to yield the right of way.
