The Mowrystown FFA will hold its annual “Day of Giving” community service event on Thursday, Dec. 17. Members will create and prepare items such as tie blankets, diaper cakes, dog toys, food boxes, and Christmas cards for nursing and veterans homes. The chapter will accept donations of the following baby items, except for diapers: baby bottles, pacifiers, baby bibs, teething toys, small stuffed animals, rubber ducks, rolls of ribbon, baby socks and hats, baby powder, old tee shirts, socks, jeans, towels and blanket-making fleece fabric. They will also accept monetary donations. The chapter hopes to make 100 blankets, each taking two-yards of material. In the past, the Mowrystown FFA has made dog toys for animal shelters, blankets for Children’s Hospital, cards for the nursing and veterans homes, and food bags filled with canned goods and other types of food for the students of their school. Donations can be dropped off at the front office of Whiteoak Jr./Sr. High School in Mowrystown.
