Highland County Sheriff’s Office reports

Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of June 12-18 the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 264 911 calls, answered 180 requests for service, dispatched 138 fire and EMS runs, took 26 offense reports and investigated two traffic crashes.

The sheriff’s office received a call from a female on Heathermoore Trail at 6:36 p.m. on June 13 reporting she had been assaulted by her mother’s boyfriend. Deputies responded to the scene and interviewed all parties involved. Joseph B. Hatley, 47, was arrested for one count of domestic violence and Katelin S. Remy, 18, was arrested for one count of assault.

At 1:09 a.m. on June 15 the sheriff’s office received a call from an anonymous citizen reporting a disturbance on Roundhead Road. The caller could hear several females screaming and thought it should be investigated. Deputies were dispatched to the scene and found two female juveniles involved in a fight. The combatants were detained and eventually released to the custody of their parents.

A Pied Piper Parkway resident called the sheriff’s office at 8:11 a.m. on June 17 to report his cell phone had been stolen by a known suspect. A deputy spoke to the complainant and an offense report was taken.

On June 17 at 5:27 p.m. the sheriff’s office received a call from a Mineer Road resident who just returned home to find her home had been ransacked and burglarized. A deputy was dispatched to the scene to investigate. The deputy processed the crime scene, collected evidence and took an offense report.
