The Lady Mustangs seemed to get off to a slow start in the first quarter Thursday night at home against the Manchester Lady Greyhounds, but they made up for it with a 52-point win at 80-28 on the night, finishing their regular season at 19-3, 11-2.

The LC ladies started out slow in the first few minutes of the game, but turned an 8-8 tie at 3:15 into a 13-point lead at 26-12 by the quarter buzzer. Peyton Scott, Zoe Fittro, Lexi Waits and McKayla Binkley scored.

The Mustangs improved their lead to 29 points by halftime, keeping the visitors at just 2 points for the quarter while scoring 14 for themselves. Abby Blankenship, Waits, Scott and Binkley scored.

By the half, the score was 40-14 with the Mustangs in the lead.

The third quarter passed in a similar fashion, with Lynchburg keeping Manchester at 8 points for the quarter while making 20 for themselves, improving their lead to 38 points at 60-22. Fittro, Waits, Scott and Binkley scored.

The Mustangs secured the win in the fourth quarter, allowing Manchester only 8 points for the final period while again scoring 20 for themselves. Blankenship, Emily Pinkerton, Scott, Chelsea Hart, McKayla Binkley and Logan Binkley scored, taking the win with a final score of 80-28.

“We had a nice all-around game,” said Lynchburg-Clay coach Whitney Lewis. “They slowed us down a little in the first quarter, so we didn’t get into a groove until a little later, but I thought our press kind of picked up and we were able to turn some of those defensive opportunities into points, so that worked well for us.”

Elsewhere, the Fairfield Lady Lions took a 66-63 loss at Fayetteville, finishing their regular season at 12-10, 8-5.
