The Hillsboro Indians boys and the Mclain Tigers boys and girls track and field regional qualifiers: the boys 4×100-meter relay team from both teams, Austin Goolsby, Mark Gallimore, and Jeremy Hayton of Hillsboro; Chayden Pitzer, Tristan Pitzer, Landree Gray, the girls 4×200-meter and 4×100-meter relay teams, and Trevor Newkirk of McClain, traveled to Athens High School for the region seven regional track meet on Thursday.
Goolsby was the first local athlete to compete taking part in the boys long jump event where he finished with a distance of 21-06.50 in the finals but fell just short of qualifying for the state meet. Goolsby also competed in the boys pole vault competition where he placed first in the finals and qualified for the state meet with a height of 15-00.00.
Gallimore also competed in the boys pole vault finishing with a height of 12-06.00 but missed qualifying for the state track meet.
C. Pitzer competed in the preliminary girls 100-meter hurdles finishing with a time of 15.37, good enough to qualify for the event finals on Saturday. C. Pitzer also qualified for the finals in the girls 200-meter dash with a time of 25.75.
T. Pitzer qualified for the finals in the boys 200-meter dashwith a time of 22.79, he also qualified for Saturdays finals in the boys 100-meter dash with a time of 11.33.
Landree Gray was a participant in the boys 110-meter hurdles finishing with a time of 16.18 just missing out on the final. Gray also took part in the boys 300-meter hurdles finishing in a time of 43.27 again falling short of the finals.
Newkirk ran in the boys 400-meter dash but failed to qualify for the finals with a time of 55.52.
Both boys 4×100-meter relay teams qualified for the finals with Hillsboro finishing in a time of 44.32 and McClain finishing in 44.66.
The finals for the region seven regional track meet are scheduled for Saturday at Athens High School with field events starting at 11:30am and running events beginning at 12:30pm.
