GREENFIELD – The Hillsboro Indians faced off against fellow Frontier Athletic Conference and Highland County rival, the McClain Tigers in boys basketball action on Saturday Night, Dec. 21 at McClain Gymnasium.
The Tigers defeated the Tribe in a tightly contested matchup, 46-44 was the final score.
Bryson Badgley led the Tigers with 20 points, Hunter Price had 13 and Ryan Scott had 12 points for the Indians team.
The rival teams played neck to neck for the majority of the showcase, McClain had a ten points at the end of the third quarter but the Indians fought until the very end of play.
The Indians’ Coach Myles Burton called a timeout towards the very end of the game which the team did not have to use and that led to the Hillsboro coach getting a technical foul and McClain ultimately winning the game.
“As expected, the guys made this game into a memory maker for the team.”
“I feel like our defense won today and won the game for us.” said Coach Joe B. Stewart
“We came out well prepared, it’s a tough one after the big game we had the night before.”
“I didn’t do a good enough job getting them prepared for tonight.”
“We did a pretty good job not turning over the game but we just couldn’t execute.” said Coach Burton
Hillsboro moves to 3-5 after loss to the Tigers and will be traveling to Clarksville to face Clinton Massie on Dec. 28, and the McClain Tigers are now 2-5 going into the next match up at home on Dec. 27, against the Adena Warriors.
