McClain soccer hosts Hillsboro

Tuesday evening saw two Highland County rival schools battling it out on the soccer field, as McClain hosted Hillsboro. The boys games ended in a 3-3 draw, and in the girls game, the Lady Tigers were on the losing side of a 10-0 final score.

In the first period, Vinicius Marcelino and Cody Hardesty, made the first two goals against the Indians. Marcelino added another goal in the second half to bring McClain to its three goal total.

Camden Yates had 15 saves as keeper for the Tigers.

“This year has been better than we expected,” said Tigers Coach Jon Chamblin after the game. “Overall, the are play very well as a team.”

Following the boys game, the Lady Tigers of McClain went up against the Lady Indians. That game ended in a 10-0 loss for McClain.

Both teams will play Thursday, September 17 against Wilmington at home.
