FFA members show rabbits at fair

At the 20016 Highland County Fair the Hillsboro FFA chapter had seven members show and or sell rabbits.

These rabbits have been taken care of by these students to prepare them for showmanship or sale. The rabbit sale was on Thursday, Sept. 8. The Hillsboro members participated in contests competing for first place.

Brittany Howard, “My Holland Lops placed first and third best of breed, best opposite in open class. I placed second in showmanship. In the junior show I placed first with all my lops and got two best of breeds. I also placed first in senior division in breed ID,” said Brittany Howard

“I placed third in showmanship and I placed third and fifth with my meat pens which sold for $275,” said Hannah Oyer.

“My market rabbit placed 3rd and sold for $425,” said Katie Condo.

“My market rabbits didn’t place; however, my breeding rabbits got first in its class, and fourth in showmanship. My market rabbit sold for $300,” said Christian McConehea.

“This year with my market rabbits I placed second and fourth in my weight classes,” said Ashley Chaney. “I sold my second place rabbit for $300.”

“My market rabbit placed fifth in my weight class and I sold my rabbit for $275,” said Taylor Chaney.
