The Southern State Community Band will honor the nation’s veterans with a Veterans Day concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on college’s central campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro.

Tickets are free, but limited. To receive tickets, contact any band member or stop by the SSCC Information Desk at the central campus.

The concert will feature a variety of patriotic music including familiar strains from “Stars and Stripes Forever,” “God Bless the U.S.A.,” and “Let Freedom Ring,” as well as several new arrangements.

The Southern State Community Band was formed more than 10 years ago and since its first days as an ensemble has performed annual concerts in honor of veterans. Founding member Corrine Erickson was a member of the first all-women military WAF Band.

The band includes both students and community members, and welcomes new members at any time. Rehearsals are held at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays in the SSCC auditorium on the central campus. For more information, contact Brian Siemers at [email protected] or 800-628-7722, ext. 2634.
