Pet of the Week

The Highland Humane Society Pet of the Week is Ladybird, an approximately 7-year-old female shepherd mix. She is full of energy and loves to run and play. Chasing her balls and playing fetch are her favorite games. Ladybird was turned in to the animal shelter by a Good Samaritan as an abandoned dog, but she is very happy. If you could give Ladybird a good forever home, or any of the other dogs and cats at the shelter a good home, contact the Humane Society at 9331 SR 124, P.O. Box 471, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133 or call the shelter at 937-393-2110. The shelter is open Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. and is closed Sunday and Monday. Its next Rascal Unit is May 8. The Rascal Unit is a low-cost spay/neuter mobile unit that the Highland County Humane Society brings to the Leesburg Fire Department (back building), every couple of months. It also performs some surgeries and offers shots for dogs and cats. If you are interested in bringing a dog or cat to the unit, contact the Humane Society, make an appointment and pay for the service in advance. The shelter is also in need of donations for its yearly yard sale on Saturday, July 7. Donate anything except clothing.
