Free clothes, school supplies and more will be available to local students when the annual Back To School Free Sale is hosted this Saturday by Good News Gathering.The event runs from 1-4 p.m. and will be held in the Rabbit/Poultry Building on the Highland County Fairgrounds in Hillsboro.In past years the event, along with a similar Christmas Free Sale, have been held from 8-11 a.m., but church member Ron Hennison said that’s been changed because people used to start lining up the night before the event and sleeping in their vehicles.

Elks donation leads to new ipad

The Hillsboro Elks Foundation made a $700 donation to the city of Hillsboro which was used to purchase a new ipad, which will be used by city IT manager Eric Daniels, who doubles as a code enforcement and parking enforcement officer. Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine visited the Alternatives to Violence Center (AVC) on Tuesday in recognition of a recent grant awarded to the organization.The grant, which is for $31,000, is one of two that will be awarded to the AVC.
