Hillsboro and Fairfield took home top two spots at Southeastern

The Hillsboro Indians and the Fairfield Lions coed track teams traveled to Southeastern High School to participate in the RL Davisson Invitational.

On the men’s side of the competition the Indians placed first with a total of 125 points and the Lions finished second earning 104 points.

In women’s action the Lady Lions placed fifth with 68 points and the Lady Indians finished in tenth place with two points.

The men’s team for Hillsboro had several top finishers in the meet. Austin Goolsby who placed first in the long jump with a distance of 19-06.00, Jeremy Hayton who won the high jump competition with a height of 6-04.00, the 4×400-meter relay team took first place, and the 4×100-meter relay team also won.

The male Lions were exceptional at the meet as well. Noah Richmond took first place in the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:38.39, Brandtson Duffie won the 400-meter dash with a time of 54.09, and Richmond also went on to win the 3200-meter run with a time of 10:29.96.

The Lady Indians garnered their two points on the night courtesy of Kailey Dietrick earning a distance of 82-05 in the discus throw.

The Lady Lions saw Blake Adams place first in the shot put competition with a distance of 38-09.00.

Hillsboro is scheduled to host South Central Ohio League rivals Wilmington and East Clinton in a tri-meet on Tuesday.

Fairfield will get a few days off before traveling to Yellow Springs, Ohio for their next meet.
