The Hillsboro Lady Indians soccer team faced off against their first outside competition on Thursday evening as they hosted Circleville for their first of three scrimmages before the official season starts.
Due to the hot and humid weather conditions, rather than play two forty minute halves, the two coach decided to play four twenty minute quarters to allow the player more break to stay hydrated during the game.
The Lady Indians got out to an early lead in the first twenty minutes when Callam Myers found the back of the net. But Circleville quickly caught up and scored eight unanswered goals.
Hillsboro finally scored their second goal after the halftime period as Hope Tira scored back-to-back goals to make it 8-3.
The Lady Tigers scored once more in the third quarter and then led of the fourth with another goal to take their total to 10. The rest of the final twenty minutes was all Lady Indians as they were able to close the gap a little bit before the game ended, scoring three goals in a row. Jayme Maynard scored the first of the three to make it 10-4. Cadence Myers scored after that to make it 10-5, and Maynard scored her second goal of the match to end all scoring and bring the final to 10-6 in favor of Circleville.
The Lady Indians will play their second scrimmage of the preseason on Monday and another on Wednesday, August 17 before their first game on the road against Eastern Brown High School on Saturday, August 20.
