Diaper Depot gives away free diapers

The Diaper Depot, a ministry of Hillsboro First Baptist Church, has been awarded a community grant from Walmart. The Diaper Depot provides free clean, dry diapers to any family needing them. There are no income requirements as the ministry states, “No strings attached.”

Diapers are given out every Wednesday at Hillsboro First Baptist Church, 127 S. West St., from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and during special events the ministry sponsors throughout the year such as its Spring Diaper Blow Out, Diaper Give-away at Walmart during Ohio’s tax-free weekend, and its Baby Olympics. So far, the Diaper Depot has provided families with more than 9,000 diapers.

“Diaper insecurity is real. We consider it an honor and privilege to serve our community through this ministry,” a news release from the church said.

Taking advantage of the free diapers is easy. The church asks that people place an order by calling 937-393-1473 or by emailing [email protected]. Then come by Hillsboro First Baptist (park in the parking lot behind the church and use the ground level door off the lot) on Wednesdays between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

On Saturday, March 25 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. the Diaper Depot will host a Spring Diaper Blow Out at the Hillsboro First Baptist Church where community members can pick up free diapers and play games, work with a craft and enjoy a snack. All ages of kids are invited to attend with their grown-ups. There will be prize drawings for four $25 Walmart gift cards beginning at 11:15 a.m. There will also be prizes for participating in a cake walk, Pin the Diaper on the Baby contest and other events even for the very young.
