Woodmen, Legion help VA home

Modern Woodmen of America teamed up withMowrystown American Legion Post 694 to help raise funds in November for expenses for the Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown. Funds raised through this project totaled m ore than $2543.

Modern Woodmen matched $2,500 of the fundraiser to bring the total proceeds to more than $5043. Members of the Post were stationed at Kroger in Hillsboro on Nov. 4-5 to pass out flags and receive donations.

Modern Woodmen District Agent Dan Mayo said, “We were pleased to partner with the Mowrystown American Legion to help them in their efforts to serve the veterans of our community. Modern Woodmen seeks quality organizations to work together to make its communities a better place to live. Our Matching Funds program is one of our feature programs in accomplishing this objective. We are proud of our veterans and those who sacrificed for the cause of freedom and our American values”

Post Commander, Chuck Emery said this about the project: “ The Mowrystown American Legion is proud to serve the community and raise funds for the Georgetown Veterans Home. We are always willing to help veterans in need and I’m fortunate to have a great group of Post members willing to serve.”
