A Jackson Township man apparently drowned over the weekend.

Highland County Sheriff Donnie Barrera reported in a press release that on Saturday at 1:05 p.m., the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a missing male subject from Jackson Township, Highland County.

Deputies responded to the scene and spoke with family members and a female, who advised that they had not seen the missing male. The female stated that she had not seen the individual since she had left for work.

Barrera advised that video surveillance of a pond on the property showed the male subject going swimming during early morning hours.

A property search was conducted by the Highland County Canine Unit. The HCSO called in Paint Creek EMS and the Ross County dive team to search for the subject in the pond. Located in the pond was the body of 34 year old Luke McKellar.

The Highland County Coroner was called to the scene, according to Barrera. The body was transported to The Montgomery County Morgue for an autopsy.

The matter is still under investigation.
